    The Recent Flooding

COVID-19 has changed the way we’ve been meeting and posting to our website. The most tragic thing for us this past year though, was one of our local Las Vegas chapters getting flooded. However, I personally learned something very valuable from this incident. I thought it would be a great reason to post here again for you all to read and learn from with me.

Our Flooded Building & The Hectic Phone Call

I was leaving the local temple when I received a phone call from a brother in distress. He was panicking, and as I got him to relax and take some deep breaths he began telling me what happened. Someone had left the water running in the bathroom where we have our chapter meetings. The drain was clogged and so the water flooded out of the sink and onto the floor. Pretty soon the entire building was flooded, this is what caused him to panic. Chairs and cloths were ruined, among many other items, and he was so sorry to tell me this.

I told him there was no need to be sorry, as he did not purposely flood the building. There was still some back and forth between us until he started to become calm. This brings up my point and question:

Why are some people constantly taking responsibility for unfortunate things that happen naturally?

We are not in control of everything, and yet there will always be someone that feels as if they could’ve done something about it. More destructively, they truly feel that if they had been there, the unfortunate event wouldn’t have happened and therefore they’re the reason it happened. This is nonsense.

As I explained very carefully to my brother there many disasters that happen in this world that are nobody’s fault. Ahura Mazda would not want for anyone to take blame for things they did not deliberately do themselves as wrongdoings.

All men and women are here serving their purpose, this purpose is to be good and honest, and to show this in the work we do. This is partially why I write these posts for you, because I want to contribute the most I can for our higher learning. If I learn something from my experience that I can tie into the understanding of Zoroastrianism, I will always go out of my way to share it.

    The Restoration Team

sweeping away flood water so it doesn't damage the floors.
We were sweeping away the flood water so it doesn’t damage the floors.

Together, as he was now calm and collective, we solved the problem (the flood). We called the insurance company that has our policy for liability on the building. The agent that helped us was very kind and was sorry for our loss and damages. This was reassuring as there wasn’t a reason for him to be nice to us.

The point was that he was nice out of his own valor, he was very sincere and made us feel even better that we were fixing the problem with him. My brother was feeling much better because of this act. The power behind kindness is often misunderstood; and when we act out it’s only a sign that we’re too far away from our understanding of this.

We eventually talked to a Las Vegas water damage restoration company that was also another great help to our problem. Not only because they can physically cleanup the flood, and not even because they were able to restore all the damages. It was because of their kindness and willingness to help us over the phone. The first call with them was excellent, the same way it went with our insurance company.

When they came to the flood (it was a local Servpro), they were there within 25 minutes and got right to work. This is the honest work I mentioned above that we all should strive to achieve. They brought in a big water extraction machine and sucked out the water from the floors and carpets. It was a lot of water to remove. Then they started removing the carpets that needed to be replaced; as they were doing this, they were radioing their team to bring the exact replacement carpet immediately to have on hand for when it was dry. The laid down big green fans to dry the water from the floors, probably about 10 fans.

Here’s a video our Servpro flood restoration team sent me from their youtube of them using the water extractor machine if you’d like to see how it works:

The thoroughness in how they think and how they work together efficiently is the same way we all need to be. Very thorough with each other, and with full purpose in everything we do. Especially in our work, family and relationships.

    Thank you for reading.

Marketing for Personal & Business Growth

What does marketing have to do with personal growth? Well, it has everything to do with it. Are you growing your spiritual being if you’re marketing your own business properly? YES! Especially if you have a family business.

Knowing that you’re continuously spending time and money and sacrifice to claim your better position in business is growth in and of itself. Having people make these decisions for you within a safe boundary (a marketing manager that can only spend $500 per month) is NOT proper marketing. The opposite is also true whereas you are open to getting ideas from marketing companies and professionals as to how you can grow. Or you personally making decisions for your business and growing via trial and error – this is also very healthy for personal and business growth.

Investing Time & Resources Into Marketing

Being like everyone else that runs a business is a poor way to live your life. Both professionally and personally, you’re accepting mediocrity, which is not the way of a true Zoroastrian way of life. You must strive to be the best you possibly can, in all areas of life. Using your business to propel you forward in this area is likely the smartest thing you can do for yourself.

To become a better you, investing time and other resources such as money or delegating tasks is a must. This will require a personal and mental sacrifice you’ll be making within your life as a whole. It also makes for a sacrifice in the physical world which will allow for growth of your physical being. Growth of your physical being will extend to other important physical beings in your life that you’re deeply connected to and likely depend on you. Extending this growth to them will transform into their spiritual beings becoming elevated as yours is.

If you choose to ignore your marketing in your family business, you’re affecting your family as well as yourself. You’re choosing for your family to not grow with you (if you’re the one making all the decisions). This is not fair for family members, or for yourself. You need to break through your discomfort. And if you can’t do this for yourself, at least make the leap for your family and for others that are also in the picture. Pushing through this is growth, choosing not to push through this, is destruction. It is both physical and spiritual destruction.

Physical destruction in your life includes the destructive communication between you and the people you love, mainly. Spiritual destruction comes from the momentum of you accepting mediocrity in your life. And if you accept mediocrity in your business, you’ll likely accept it everywhere else in your life, therefore, lowering your spiritual well-being. It’s not about the money, it’s about the growth and progress you make towards your goals. And it’s about making those goals very important to you and your family. Pushing yourself to accomplish these goals will make you more spiritually healthy.

    Ways to Market Your Business

If you’ve decided you’d like to add this benefit of marketing your business to your life, congratulations. However, we won’t stop here, as there’s a lot of work and sacrifice involved in getting you to do the necessary tasks to accomplish this. We’re here in the Zoroastrian community to help our fellow readers.

    Ways to Grow with Marketing

Here are a few ways we know you can market your business successfully. This is provided here so you don’t have to waste money on forms of advertising that don’t work in today’s digital age. Comb through this list from time to time, write these down and make progress over time. You’re gonna have to test these out to know which is best for your specific industry and area. Here’s the list:

    1. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

We’ve found SEO to be the best way to market local businesses in their area. It is the process in getting your business at the top of search engines people use everyday. So when your potential customers look up businesses that provide your service, you’ll be found at the top. This is the single best way to get customers for now in 2019. We highly recommend a company that provides Las Vegas SEO for our Las Vegas chapter of Zoroastrian business owners. They’ve already been trusted to help over 10 of our members in Las Vegas and we are all grateful to have found them.

    2. Billboards

Having a billboard in your local area about your services will get the attention of the majority of people that live in your area. Having multiple is even better. We’ve found that people generally do look at billboards and get alerted about specific details of a company. Then when they actually need the service, they’re likely to look up that brand online and ask friends about them. If they trust you, they’ll likely call you.

    3. Facebook Advertising

Facebook is a great place for you to use ads to grow your business. You can target people based on proximity or on many other demographical factors. Having a list of past customers phone numbers and/or email addresses can be very useful. If you have a list, you can upload it to Facebook and they can create a “mirror audience” of that list. Meaning, they’ll show the ad to people that are very similar to the people on your list. This can be very powerful for a small business. This is also one of the best ways to market your company in 2019.

    Test Yourself, Test Your Business

Get out there and test yourself! Go and attempt to push yourself to make the necessary changes to your mindset to make this happen. Make your personal growth a priority, as it always should be. Get out of the funk you’re in right now by pushing yourself to your limits. This goes for pushing the limits of work, sacrifice and selflessness. Putting your business at the forefront of changes will help you do this easier. Understanding that your business health is what is directly impacting your family and spiritual happiness will help you push through. Get the motivation from coming from the perspective of your family being happy and positively affected by your personal growth.

When you come back to this, it should be to test out the next marketing tactic on the list. Go out there, and try these things. Don’t be fearful – instead, understand your fear is only a construct of a misunderstanding of how to become spiritually whole and radiating that wholeness with others.

    We’re All Spiritual Beings

    Everyone has a Spirit

We’ve been seeing far more often people saying that spirits don’t exist. They also say that knowing whether they exist or not won’t do anything to help us. I beg to differ this. There are spirits within everyone and everyone is actually a spirit. We’re all here to live the best life we possibly can while letting off the best energy we possibly can. There’s no real way to get this done and do it right rather than knowing that you’re a spirit connecting with other spirits. A lot of us decide that we should stop learning about this stuff when we get to a certain age or confidence in ourselves.

The point is that everyone should be understanding that we all have good within us and we have pure souls. The things we do to spoil the purity are all sins that we can’t justify. All sins are made up of selfish acts without considering other people or the impact it has to the connection of other people in the universe. The only reason Angel Street doesn’t exist is because of all the momentum of selfish acts throughout the universe. Otherwise, we’d all be righteous beings and that simply doesn’t seem possible. But what is possible is the fact that we can all be together in harmony for the most part. And getting in touch with your soul will get us closer to that point in human existence.

    Jill Dyson Music Angel Street

    Music on Religion

Jill Dyson is a famous musician and songwriter that supports a ministry called Angel Street. Although not Zoroastrian in nature, she does hold to be an important influence on others in a good way that BPP agrees with completely. Anyone who is attempting to gain relevant information as to how they should act and treat one another would recognize others that stand for the same thing. Jill Dyson is one of these types of people that stand for peace.

No matter the religion, no matter what God or Gods people follow – what matters is that they treat others the way they’d like to be treated – with kindness, compassion and respect. All over the place there are people hating one another based on religion alone and not their core beliefs. If a lot of these people started only listening to one another rather than share the same “stories” over and over again that may or may not be 100% true; they’d understand that we all want the same thing. The goal with religion is to live a great life on this planet and be in harmony as much as we possibly can. Anyone who stands for the same thing knows that the world would be a better place if everyone knew this and behaved in a way to make it happen.

The specifics in each religion varies from each and every single one. The main point is, if anyone’s God is going to reward GOOD people with paradise, it doesn’t matter if those people understood the specifics on the people that are involved in their stories. What matters is that we all learn the same thing, and become good people respecting one another, even with different religions. Having arguments about who’s story is the truth or the right one is absolutely ridiculous to the main goal God has in plan for us all. It’s the opposite of what God wants. Music is a great way to bring this message to others while impacting millions of people. Those who are truly “Christian”, “Zoroastrian”, “Mormon”, etc. would all understand that God wants us all to be in harmony and at peace; and they would spread the word of THIS concept – rather than the constant recycling of specific details of stories within holy books.
