REVIVAL OF BPP MATRIMONIAL BUREAU
True to its avowed objective of caring for the welfare of the community, the Matrimonial Bureau under the auspices of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet, restarted in February 2010 under the guidance of BPP trustee Mrs. Arnavaz Mistry. The Bureau facilitates a meeting ground for Parsi / Irani Zoroastrian youth between the ages 20 and 40 years, desirous of seeking suitable partners.
Get-togethers are held on the second Saturday each month at 6.00 pm.
On arriving at the venue, the youngsters register themselves with the Bureau, giving their own personal details. The bureau plans to attempt to match the details and preferences, and facilitate a meeting ground for youngsters.
Enthusiastic youngsters come from not only all over Mumbai city and distant suburbs, but also from destinations like Dahanu, Vapi, Valsad, Ahmedabad, and Jamshedpur, and even USA.
The evening usually starts with a game or two, to break the ice between the youngsters. The games liven up the gathering, enabling an easy intermingling between the boys and the girls.
An interaction on one-to-one basis then takes place, when evaluation forms are provided to each participant. After comparing the forms, positive responses are conveyed to the concerned individuals, to proceed further in the matter.
Music with a DJ is usually provided, or sometimes there is a ‘karaoke’ evening, to create a party-like atmosphere, when everyone dances and sings, and has a good time. However, the boys always far outnumber the girls in all the Meets.
The youngsters express their gratitude, and look forward to such rollicking events every month.
In view of the dwindling population, the Matrimonial Bureau is trying to do its bit to encourage early marriage of youngsters within the community. So far 69 girls and 169 boys have availed of this golden opportunity to find a life partner.
From the reports received from some of the earlier participants, some have already met suitable partners, and are dating each other.
